Sapphic Hangout at Parlor & Yard, Austin

Our queer women’s hangout at Parlor & Yard in Downtown Austin brought the gays to West 6th for cocktails, patio hangs, and heavy yapping.

Parlor & Yard has that indoor-outdoor setup that feels less like being packed in a small bar and more like somebody invited a suspicious number of lesbians to a very large backyard party. As always, we pulled up and kept it bumping.

The highlight of the night was hands down overhearing a man sitting at the bar shrug and say to his friend, “Huh, guess it’s a gay bar now,” before continuing completely unbothered with his evening. We see you, ally.

The patio gave everyone room to grab a table, sip something cold, and actually hear the person sitting across from them — always a luxury on West 6th. A big shout out to Abby for introducing us to her adorable puppy Reece (pictured below), who quickly claimed the spotlight with literal puppy eyes.

That relaxed layout gave the whole night an easy rhythm. No activity to organize, no pool skills to pretend to have, no elaborate plan required. Just drinks, fresh air, queer women, and plenty of time to see where the evening went (big surprise! we ended up dancing all night at Barbs).

Overall verdict: patio season + lesbians remains an elite combination.
