Back at the Warehouse with Austin’s Queer Women

Our lesbian pool night brought us back to Warehouse Billiard Bar in South Austin, where having an entire room full of pool tables makes bringing a bunch of queer women together remarkably easy.

If you haven’t been, the Warehouse is huge — the kind of place where our crowd can spread out without feeling scattered. Some people went straight (in the least straight way possible) to claim a table, others posted up with drinks, and plenty spent the night wandering between games and conversations. You could show up ready to absolutely CRUSH your opponent(s) or spend twenty minutes lining up a shot just for it to fly off the table (guilty as charged, your honor). Both approaches were happily received.

That’s part of why we’ve liked bringing Sapphic Weekly ATX back here. There’s always something going on, but nobody has to participate in any particular way. Newcomers can jump into a game, regulars inevitably find each other, and somehow the whole space turns into a rotating mix of lesbians yelling encouragement across pool tables.

Were all of the shots impressive? Absolutely not. How was the lesbian energy? Immaculate.

The Warehouse continues to be one of those South Austin spots that can handle us — which is a valuable skill.
