FAQs
Can I come to a hangout alone?
YES. Please do!! Most of our regulars showed up solo their first time - that's the whole point and you are safe with us. Coming to a lesbian or queer event alone in Austin can feel scary, so we make a point of welcoming new faces the second they walk in. Look for the loud table of gays, a gay flag, and check for any additional information on the Partiful for that week! Feel free to DM us on Instagram @sapphicweeklyatx when you arrive and one of us will come find you. 💅
Who’s welcome at Sapphic Weekly ATX?
The whole sapphic spectrum: lesbians, bisexual and pansexual women, queer and questioning women, nonbinary sapphics, and trans women. If "sapphic" feels like it might include you, it does. Our weekly hangouts exist so every queer woman in Austin has somewhere to find community - there is absolutely NO gatekeeping here everyone is a perfect angel.
When and Where do you meet?
Every single week, on a Wednesday or Thursday evening, somewhere new(usually) - we rotate through queer-friendly bars, lounges, and hangout spots all over Austin. Check out this week’s sapphic spot to see this week's location, time, and details. It changes weekly, so peek every Monday (or follow @sapphicweeklyatx and we'll tell you). You can also always reach out via our contact form!
Is it free? How much does a hangout cost?
Nearly every single week is totally free. We just pick a spot, show up, and hang out - you only pay for whatever you eat or drink. Occasionally we rally the group around a special ticketed queer event happening in Austin instead; when that happens, the details and ticket link are always on our RSVP page, so you'll never be surprised.
Do I need to RSVP?
RSVPs help us give the venue a heads-up on headcount (30+ gays appearing unannounced is a lot for any bar), so we appreciate it - there's an RSVP button on our weekly spot page every week. But on regular free weeks, you can honestly walk in and you will always be welcome. Saw the post an hour before? Just come by!
I’m shy/socially anxious. Is this going to be a lot?
Completely understandable and valid question. And believe us when we say you are NOT alone!! Many of us are introverts ourselves which is a large reason why we organize meetups where sapphics can just come by to hang for any amount of time without any pressure. There are no mandatory icebreakers, name tags, or forced mingling. Come for 30 minutes or stay for hours. Heck, bring a book if that’s your comfort object, so long as you are comfortable. And please feel free to reach out on our main instagram @sapphicweeklyatx, our individual Instagrams, or through our contact form ahead of time and we will make sure to find you should you need a gentle first hello.
