Sapphic Weekly ATX finally made its way to The Grackle on East 6th on Wednesday, October 7th, and this Austin gem did NOT disappoint! The Grackle has a massive covered patio and a surprisingly roomy interior, and when it comes to spooky season, they do NOT play about their decor!! A spacious and comfy setting with a sick pool table and hella space for darts and other games is already enough to bring the lesbian and sapphic community out, but the sheer amount of thought put into the spooky decor was the last nail in the coffin (pun intended, come on now).
The walls and ceiling were lined with insanely gnarly decorations, including an actual coffin the venue managed to score from a mortician. On top of the stunningly curated atmosphere, the staff were some of the kindest and most fun bar staff we have had the pleasure of working with.
And the perfect end to the night - two sapphics won free tattoos (each one redeemable for 3 months) as part of Keep Our Sapphics Tatted, our October initiative giving free ink back to our community at every event!! Entry was free with no purchase necessary, and every attendee always has an equal chance to win. The Grackle will ABSOLUTELY be seeing us again!
